About

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University, and an Affiliate Faculty member of the Operations Research program.

My research is on nonlinear systems theory for control, with a focus on operator theory and operator learning methods for data-driven modeling, identification, stability analysis, state observation, and optimal control. I am also interested in their application to engineering systems, especially chemical processes, and the use of these operator methods for the analysis of optimization algorithms and understanding of artificial intelligence.

Before joining NC State, I received my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota (2020, advised by Prodromos Daoutidis), and worked as a Process Control Engineer on the R&D of MPC technology at Shell Global Solutions. I received my B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Mathematics from Tsinghua University.

Born in Yongzhou, Hunan Province, China, I like spicy food and mathematics-related topics. I also enjoy reading about history, learning languages and dialects, and listening to some folk music as well as more recent popular music in my spare time (if any).
